After a brief run as a model for fashion before moving into acting when she appeared as a guest on television shows like Boy Meets World in the 1990s, and High Incident. She debuted in the film industry in the 1997 documentary Nowhere. Her performances were in American Beauty, for which she earned an BAFTA Award nomination and American Pie led to her being the subject of more attention. She has since appeared on screen in Loser (2000) together with American Pie co-star Jason Biggs as well as later, she played the lead part in the comedy Sugar & Spice (2001). The film also featured her in the independent 2002 drama Spun as well as the 2004 action feature Trauma. Also, she starred in HBO the drama Six Feet Under. The series was on in 2004.
